SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Chris Singleton, the Charleston Southern graduate and former baseball player for the Chicago Cubs, spent his day inspiring kids in Summerville.
Singleton, who now works as the Director of Community Outreach for the Charleston Riverdogs, spoke to 5th-grade students at Nexton Elementary.
During the visit, he spoke talked kids about going after their dreams, making the right choices and having the right attitude.
Singleton told them it was very tough when he found out his mother was one of nine church members who was shot and killed at Mother Emanuel AME back in 2015. But he told them he was able to handle that reality because of the choices he made.
He has been speaking at several Berkeley County Schools about the standardized testing they have been doing recently.
