Woman airlifted to Charleston hospital after shooting in Colleton County

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A suspect has been arrested in reference to a shooting that happened Wednesday in Colleton County.

According to CCSO spokeswoman Shalane Lowes, deputies responded to an address in the 200 block of Bodison Memorial in the town of Round O after 911 received a call about a female who had sustained a gunshot wound.

Upon arrived, deputies located the victim who was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Charleston due to the severity of her injuries.

After receiving eye witness accounts of what happened, Lowes said deputies were able to locate the suspect a short distance from the scene.

Deputies arrested William C. Sanders without incident. Sanders is being housed at the Colleton County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. He is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and violation of order of protection. 

The victim is currently listed in critical condition.
