CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – The Trump Administration is laying out its own vision for the future of the economy in the Lowcountry.

From offshore drilling to the latest tariffs, community leaders will meet with the Department of Commerce Monday to discuss a series of hot topics.

With the Trump Administration’s call to open nearly all U.S. waters to offshore drilling activities, this meeting is an opportunity for area residents to make their voices heard.

In addition to offshore drilling, organizers plan to talk about ways to improve the local seafood industry and improve efficiency at the Port of Charleston.

Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, councilman Mike Seekings, and Isle of Palms Mayor Jimmy Carroll are each expected to be at the meeting Monday afternoon.

The event will be held at the Charleston Maritime Center at 3:00 p.m. We are told doors for the meeting will open at 2:30 p.m.
