Concerns grow for dolphins along the Lowcountry coast

Local News

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – The Marine Mammal Network says 350 local dolphins are facing more troubles that could drive the dolphins to illnesses, death or moving locations.

It’s unclear how many dolphins are still around the South Carolina coast because of the increasing human activity, crab pot entanglement, and other dangers.

Dolphins are important to the ecosystem because they can be the first signal that something might not be right in our waterways.

The Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network wants you to be cautious in waterways to make sure dolphins stay safe and healthy.
