Report: James Island man killed during home invasion

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCBD) - A police incident report suggests that a 22-year-old James Island man was shot and killed during a home invasion early Tuesday.

Just before 3 a.m., a Charleston police officer found Cole Smith in a bedroom of a home on Bradham Road.   He had been shot in the head.

Smith was rushed to MUSC, where he died a short time later.

According to an incident report, police are investigating the killing as a homicide and possible break-in.

Officers did not make any immediate arrests.
