Coroner: Victim identified after 18-wheeler went off the roadway and overturned

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The identity of the driver that was killed in a single-vehicle collision today has been identified by Dorchester County Coroner Paul J. Brouthers .    

Jerome Simmons, 58, of Holly Hill, died at the scene at approximately 3:40 a.m. when the eighteen wheeler he was driving on Winningham Road near Saint George went off the left side of the roadway and overturned, according to Coroner Brouthers.

The body has been taken to Medical University of South Carolina for autopsy. 

This case is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office.
