NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims in Wednesday’s fatal crash on I-26.

The collision happened around 1:45 a.m. on the westbound side near mile marker 207, when a 2019 Dodge Charger rear-ended a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Dodge Charger then ran off the road and into the woods.

I-26 was shut down in that direction for several hours as authorities investigated the crash and worked to clear the scene.

Two passengers from that car, 31-year-old Morris Miller from North Charleston and 24-year-old Dayton Taylor from Summerville both died at the scene.

Drivers from both vehicles were taken to the hospital. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating.
