Coyote mating season is underway, what you should watch out for

Local News

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, SC (WCBD) – Love is in the air today, and we are actually in the midst of coyote mating season.

Male coyotes can be increasingly territorial, aggressive, and hungry.

Within the next month, you may see pups around which can make for more brazen and active adult coyotes.

They are highly adaptive, so if a neighborhood gets built on their territory they won’t flee, instead, they’ll urbanize.

Coyotes are not generally aggressive towards people, but they are a threat to small pets on or off a leash.

If you see a coyote in your area try not to leave pet bowls outside and never feed them.

Doing so makes them more likely to approach people later.

You should never approach a coyote. Leave the area and alert animal control.
