Deputies searching for two additional gunmen following shooting, robbery

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCBD) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of two suspects who have been charged in the shooting that took place during a robbery.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell stated that Shawna Burch, 25, and Benjamin Carr, 23, were both charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Carr was further charged with attempted murder and kidnapping, according to Ravenell. During a hearing on Wednesday, Burch’s bond was set on her armed robbery charges at $10,000.

Carr made his first appearance on Thursday when bond was denied, the judge deferring bond consideration to a circuit court judge at a later date, according to the report.

The two men were then taken in their own car by the three gunmen to the town of North where one of the men was ordered to open a business where he worked, Ravenell said.

However, the report states that the man managed to elude his kidnappers and make his escape but the second man, was shot shortly after.

Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office Victim’s Advocate Ashley Robinson told the court the victim was in stable condition.

Investigators are still searching for two gunmen.
