DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – Residents of Dorchester County can take advantage of free, in-person tax filing this week.
The county is partnering with SC Thrive to help residents who make less than $65,000 annually or married couples to make less than $95,000 combined or file jointly.
Those who meet the criteria and would like to take advantage of the opportunity can walk-in to one of the following locations to receive tax-filing assistance:
- Clemson Extension Office – 201 Johnston Street, St. George – Monday, February 11th
- Summerville County Council Chambers – 500 N. Main Street, Summerville – Tuesday, February 12th
- Summerville County Council Chambers – 500 N. Main Street, Summerville – Friday, February 15th
Each service will be available from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
If you plan on using the free service, please bring the following forms and information:
Person Information: Home address, phone number, Social Security Number(s), birthdate(s), bank account and routing numbers (fore direct deposit)
Federal Return Forms: Previous year’s tac return (Federal From 1040)
Income Documents: Earned income (W-2, 1099-MISC, retirement income (1099-R, SSA-1099, CSA- or CF-1099-R), investment income (1099-INT, 1099-DIV), misc. income (1099-G, W-2G, alimony payments, 1099-C, 1099-SSA).
Health Coverage Documents: Marketplace coverage (1095-A), employer coverage (1095-B, 1095-C)
Expense Records: Child and dependent care, employment and business, contributions to health savings account, medical and dental expenses, records related to the home (1098 and mortgage credit certificate), education expenses (1098-T and Form 1098-E), charitable contributions, disaster and theft losses, miscellaneous (alimony payments, gambling losses, penalties or earl withdrawals).
