DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The coroner has identified a man that died in a car crash early Saturday morning after a pursuit with police.
Diedreich Adam Jackson, 37, of Charleston died from injuries sustained in an automobile collision on Dorchester Road near St. Georges Episcopal Church, said Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers.
According to North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor, the subject was stumbling as he walked and appeared intoxicated and then entered a Chevrolet Impala.
The driver was driving westbound on Dorchester Road at a high rate of speed.
An officer tried to conduct a normal traffic stop but then driver fled from the officer.
The vehicle would later be found near the 9100 block of Dorchester Road with the driver ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
