Owner of Summerville BBQ restaurant arrested for operating without a license

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCBD) – The owner of a popular Summerville barbecue restaurant was arrested Thursday for operating without a license.

Officials say William Kelly Jr., 56, was charged because he did not have a valid license for his business.

The Department of Revenue previously revoked Kelly’s license because he did not file for sales or tax paperwork.

We are told revenue officers advised Kelly of the civil and potential criminal penalties for operating without a retail license. They say he was cited for engaging in business without a valid retail license on two occasions.

If convicted, he faces up to 30 days in jail and/or a $200 fine.
