SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Renovations at the former National Guard Armory are almost complete.

The Town of Summerville purchased the armory after it sat vacant for many years with plans to overhaul the building into a community center.

Work at the new Rollins Edwards Community Center should be completed by the end of April.

The new center is expected to have indoor recreation, fitness classes, meeting space, and reception/banquet rentals.

The building includes a main hall, a fitness equipment room, fitness classroom, multipurpose classrooms, a kitchen, men’s/women’s locker rooms, and staff offices.

Renovations are expected to cost about $4.2 million dollars.
