Sheriff’s Office to honor 163 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty

Dorchester County, SC – On Friday, May 17, the Lowcountry Chapter of the South Carolina Police Wives Association in coordination with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office will host a memorial service as part of National Police Week. 
 
The service will begin at 8:00 PM and will be held outside at the Dorchester County Law Enforcement Complex located at 212 Deming Way in Summerville.  
 
The rain-or-shine, pet-friendly event will include a Presentation of the Colors; music by the Ashley Ridge High School Band and others; a short welcome by Sheriff L.C. Knight and Chapter President Jennifer Mosier.  

Cpl. Kimber Gist of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and former Deputy, Lt. Shawn Gibbons, of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, both wounded in the line of duty, will be guest speakers. 
 
The memorial will conclude with a Lantern Lift honoring the 163 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty last year in the United States.  
 
You’re encouraged to bring a chair.
