Drawing for largest-ever Mega Millions jackpot of $1.6 billion happens tonight

Local News

The Mega Millions jackpot has reached $1.6 billion, the largest-ever lottery jackpot in the world, and the next drawing happens on Tuesday night at 11 p.m.

The odds of winning are about 1 in 302.5 million.

Officials estimate that by the Tuesday night’s drawing, 75 percent of the possible combinations for the lottery will be sold.

If there is a winner, they could take home a $904 million cash option or choose an annuity, and receive annual installments over 29 years, resulting in a higher payout over time.

The drawing will be held at 11 p.m. Afterward, the winning numbers will be displayed on the South Carolina Education Lottery website.
