Driver dies after crashing into tree off Highway 61 near Magnolia Plantation

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCBD) – Highway 61 has re-opened after all lanes were closed early Monday morning because of a fatal crash.

The single-vehicle crash happened near Magnolia Plantation around 9:30 a.m.

Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputies say a motorist traveling on Highway 61 drove off the roadway and collided into a tree.

The male driver, whose identity has not yet been released, died as a result of the incident. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.
