Emergency crews respond to a duplex fire in N. Charleston

Local News

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) The Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call at 8:00 this evening reporting a “fire next door” on Napoleon Drive, according to the news release.

Deputy Chief Stephanie Julazadeh stated that the North Charleston Fire Department and St. Andrews Fire Departments responded to the call. Multiple 9-1-1 calls reported smoke and flames visible from a duplex.

First arriving firefighters reported a duplex on fire with heavy fire and smoke on one side, Julazadeh added.  We’re told that a fire attack was initiated along with a search of both units.

Officials stated that all occupants were out of the duplex. Damage to the roof caused firefighters to change from an interior to an exterior fire attack.

The firefighters continued to extinguish the fire from the outside and that no injuries were reported. Three residents displaced by the fire are being assisted by Red Cross.

A fire investigation is in progress.
