The 52-year-old spent 30 years with the Florence Police Department. Carraway was killed in a shooting Wednesday night in Florence County.
He also served with the 315 Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston. Carraway retired after 23 years of service and was selected as one of the 12 outstanding Airmen of 2002.
