MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A celebration of life will be held this weekend for a Wando High School student who passed away this week

According to the Department of Natural Resources, 17-year-old Logan Janik died Tuesday after his canoe capsized.

Janik was a rising senior at the school and an avid fly fisherman who loved boating with his friends. Family members described him as a talented lacrosse player who was always happy with a mission to make others smile.

His life will be celebrated at Seacoast Church Student Center in Mount Pleasant on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

His family is asking fellow lacrosse players to bring their sticks as a tribute.

Donations can be made in Logan’s name to CUSABO Nation Lacross (P.O. Box 20040, Charleston, SC 29413). The organization provides lacrosse coaching, equipment and fields to the Charleston community and serves as an after-school program for scholar-athletes.
