BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Deputies in Berkeley County are investigating after video of a Sangaree Middle School student taking a shower was shared with other students.
A Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputy was reportedly on patrol in Ladson when they were approached and notified about the alleged video.
The deputy then notified the school’s principal, Sissy Days, and assistant principal, Shawn McCombs, and an investigation was initiated.
According to an incident report, a female student was filmed while taking a shower during the summer of 2017. The video was allegedly shared with others on the school’s athletic bus while heading to Cane Bay High School for cheerleading and football practice on September 24.
Upon further investigation, the student accused of recording the video admitted to the assistant principal that she did share the video with another person who may have sent it to another student.
The deputy and the principal contacted the second subject who also admitted to receiving the video and sending it to another student.
All parties were advised of the seriousness of the situation and the possible circumstances behind their actions.
BCSD officials said both students were given “numerous days of out-of-school suspension” following their initial investigation.
