Firefighter hospitalized after crews extinguish a structure fire

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls for a structure on fire in the 9400 block of Highway 78.

North Charleston and C & B Fire Departments responded to the call.  
 
Deputy Chief Stephanie Julazadeh stated that the first arriving firefighters reported a two-story structure with heavy smoke coming from the eaves.

An exterior attack was initiated to extinguish the fire. Firefighters added additional units to the call based on the fire growth. North Charleston, Charleston and St. Andrews Fire Departments responded with additional units. 
 
One firefighter was transported with a minor injury, Julazadeh added.

A fire investigation is in progress.
