Hurricane Florence is set to make landfall in North Carolina late tonight and drift slowly southwest toward South Carolina through the day Friday.
Devastating storm surge will spread across the North Carolina coast today through Friday with significant flooding rain expected as well. Widespread wind damage will occur near and to the northeast of the center of the storm.
Flooding rain will spread across parts of South Carolina through the weekend with some areas seeing more than a foot of rain.
“We are watching the track closely as that will help pinpoint where the heaviest rain will fall,” said Meteorologist Josh Marthers. “Right now we need to be prepared for widespread 4-8″ amounts with some possibly seeing a foot or more!”
Marthers suggests using today’s dry weather to prepare your home for flooding by utilizing sand bags and moving items to higher ground or higher floors.
Tropical storm force winds will be likely across parts of the Lowcountry over the weekend, as well.
