CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD)- Former North Charleston Police Officer Michael will appeal his sentence.
On December 7th, Slager was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the shooting death of Walter Scott in April of 2015.
The case received national attention after cell phone footage of the shooting went viral.
In May of 2017, Slager pleaded guilty to violating Scott’s civil rights.
Andy Savage, Slager’s attorney, filed the appeal today.
