  • President Donald Trump is set to sign the spending bill passed by Congress this morning to avoid another partial government shutdown. The President is also expected to declare a national emergency to get enough money for his border wall. 
  • The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition kicks off today in Downtown Charleston. Nearly 40,000 people attend every year, along with 500 artists, exhibitors, and wildlife experts. You can expect more traffic this weekend on the peninsula.
  • Pipes are being installed at the Berkeley County landfill to help suck some gas out of the ground to control the stench. The new pipes will connect to the gas systems already in place. It’ll then be burned off or sold to Santee Cooper. 
  • A proposed smoking ban for public parks and public events in the Town of Summerville has been voted down. The goal was to limit exposure to tobacco.
