Gala supports local camp for kids with cancer

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – Camp Happy Days hosts the Heroes of Hope Gala on November 16th. It’s the 29th Anniversary of the Cabooty Party, names for Allan “Cabooty” Cabading, a survivor of childhood cancer and one of Camp Happy Days’ first counselors. The gala started in his apartment as a tree-trimming party and has grown into a major fundraiser.

The gala features live entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and a live and silent auction. The gala takes place at Memminger Auditorium in downtown Charleston from 7 PM to 11 PM.

Founded in 1982, Camp Happy Days mission is to offer support and encouragement to children diagnosed with cancer and their families. The funds raised at the gala allow Camp Happy Days to provide cost free year-round programs, special events and access to crisis resources to children with cancer.
