Georgetown Co. deputies arrest three suspects on drug charges

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - Agents with the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, working with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgetown City Police Department, concluded a drug investigation into heroin sales in Georgetown County yesterday, arresting three individuals.

The report states that agents had developed information and made purchases of heroin and crack cocaine from suspected dealers in the Andrews and Sampit sections of Georgetown County. They then obtained arrest warrants for Eric Cox of Andrews, Devanta Judson of Sampit and Lavar Cooper of Andrews/ Sampit, arresting all three yesterday.

Eric Cox, when arrested, was found to be in possession of a .357 magnum revolver loaded with hollow-point bullets as well as distribution level quantities of heroin, methamphetamine and MDMA and a quantity of U.S. currency, according to authorities.

Cox has been charged with: 
• 2 counts Distribution of Heroin 2nd offense 
• 1 count of Distribution of Cocaine Base 2nd offense 
• 3 counts of Distribution of Controlled Substance within ½ mile of a school or park 
• Possession with intent to Distribute Heroin 2nd offense 
• Possession with intent to Distribute Methamphetamine 2nd offense 
• Possession with intent to Distribute MDMA 2nd offense 
• Unlawful carry of a pistol

Cooper has been charged with; 
• 1 count of Distribution of Heroin 2nd offense 
• 1 count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance within ½ mile of a school or park

Judson has been charged with; 
• 1 count of Distribution of Heroin 1st offense 
• 1 count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance within ½ mile of a school or park

Authorities state that all three individuals were transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where they are being held pending bond.
