Andrews resident charged with murder, robbery

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has charged an Andrews man with the robbery and murder of Bernard Patterson, 64, a resident of the Little Italy community near Andrews.

On January 22, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office responded to 105 Olmstead Street in reference to a deceased male found in his own yard. According to the deputies, it was quickly determined that the victim, Bernard Patterson, had been robbed and shot on his front porch after answering his door. 

Authorities stated that Patterson succumbed to his injuries.

Following an investigation, including analysis of physical evidence and extensive witness interviews, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division charged Dexter Jaamal Grant, 30, in connection with the death of Patterson. 

Grant faces charges of Murder, Armed Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Possession of a Handgun by Persons Prohibited.

Grant is currently in custody at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
