Georgetown County News

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) Crews were dispatched to a reported house fire on Pawleys Island on Thursday.

According to Midway Fire and Rescue, crews arrived at the residence on Ancient Mariner Lane to find a single-family home with flames coming from a back portion of the structure.

Photos from the scene show the back portion of the home was completely damaged by the fire.

The family was not home, but an adult male who was working at the home was taken to the hospital for observation.

Firefighters were able to safely remove two dogs from the burning home. One dog, though, is still reportedly missing.

One Midway Firefighter was transported to an area hospital for heat-related injuries and was later released.

The fire remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.
