Officials: One killed in lightning strike, two others hospitalized in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD/WBTW) – The National Weather Service is reporting that a lightning strike at the Lawshe Plantation struck several people.

According to the Georgetown County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks stated that one was fatal and two others suffered minor injuries. The Georgetown Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 44 year old Ryan Gamble of Andrews.

The lightning strike injured twelve people with four unresponsive, according to the National Weather Service.

Sam Hodge, with the Georgetown County Emergency Management, confirmed to News13 that people have been struck by lightning near the Lawshee Plantation and are being taken to the hospital.
