MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – Holiday shopping is here and you may be looking for the best ways to save money.
There’s a hand full of saving apps available for download in your phone’s app store and online.
Gabby Lee, a Mt. Pleasant mom and full time attorney, reminds shoppers to never buy anything at its full price.
“You can always find a good deal,” said Lee.
It’s likely the price will be marked down at a later date after you pay full price and you’ll be kicking yourself later.
Lee suggests shopping online. She does for about everything since that is where she finds some of the best deals. Shopping online also saves her time.
For grocery shopping she uses a service called “Shipt”.
“You can search just by specials and discounts. That way you aren’t looking at things full price,” Lee says, “You literally are just buying what’s on special.”
“Shipt” will charge you for shopping and delivery and only includes the following stores: Target, Publix, Whole Foods, and Bi-Lo.
“You have to pay $5 to have that done, but in the grand scheme, you’re probably saving $50 or $60 dollars,” said Mt. Pleasant mom and blogger, Gabby Lee.
Her next tip to shoppers is to buy in bulk. Lee says Costco is a great place to do that and to buy organic foods.
“18 pack of organic brown eggs is like $5 dollars at Costco, where if you go to Harris Teeter, it’s like $5 or $6 dollars for a 12 pack of organic eggs,” said Lee.
Make a list and stick to it.
Online coupon sites she recommends include: RetailMeNot and Honey.
“Honey finds all of the discounts and searches the entire internet,” said Lee.
“Snip Snap” and “Yowza” are also popular coupon apps.
Download apps that offer rewards and coupons. Most stores nowadays have an app for free download and you could find yourself receiving free things at checkout.
