Charleston, S.C. (WCBD)- Mayors’ Commission on Homelessness and Affordable Housing will host a meeting for local landlords and property managers.
The plan is to discuss regional homelessness, the housing needs of those working to transition out of homelessness, and the related supportive services that can be provided.
Presentations will be made by representatives of the city’s department of Housing and Community Development, Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services, Lowcountry Continuum of Care, and Military Community Connection.
Patrick Arnold, the Executive Director for the Charleston Home Builders Association says the housing industry must make living in Charleston affordable, “The important thing about housing affordability is that you have to have homes that are near work centers at price points people can actually afford. Otherwise it leads to traffic and all kinds of infrastructure problems”.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. in the first floor Public Meeting Room at the Gaillard Center in Downtown Charleston and is open to the public.
