Hurricane season comes to an end

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Today markes the end of the Atlantic hurricane sesaon.

The American Red Cross is releasing some staggering numbers. Over the last five months, the group has served more than 3 million meals, handed out more than 642 thousand relief items and provided more than 182,000 overnight stays in shelters.

That includes about 24,000 shelter stays here in South Carolina.

The Red Cross workers responded to eight different hurricanes.
