Identity released, man shot & killed in downtown Charleston

One man is dead and another is in the hospital after a late night shooting in downtown Charleston.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday at a home on North Romney Street.

According to Charleston police, a 24-year-old man forced his way inside the home at Bridgeview Village apartments and shot a 31-year-old man.  The 24-year-old intruder was shot multiple times by the homeowner.

24 year old Deondrae Frazier of Charleston was taken to MUSC where he died as the result of gunshot wounds.

The 31-year-old homeowner was also transported to the hospital.  Information about his condition was not immediately released.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.   Officers say the 24-year-old was known by a resident of the home.
