It’s Memorial Day weekend! Here are the beach rules

Local News

It is the Memorial Day weekend and you might be heading out to the beach to catch some sun and cool breezes. Officials want to remind you about the rules, before you go.

If you are heading to Folly Beach, dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10:00am until 6:00pm, and must be on leash at all other times. No alcohol, glass, plastic, styrofoam, open fires or fireworks are allowed on the beach and littering is also prohibited.

On the Isle of Palms, prohibited items include glass, motorized vehicles like golf carts, alcohol and fireworks. When it comes to dogs, they must be leashed and any holes dug must be filled in for safety as you leave. Jet skis and motor boats may not be operated in designated swimming areas.

On Sullivan’s island, you cannot bring motorized vehicles or golf carts on the beach. Fireworks and alcohol consumption and possession is prohibited on the beach. Dogs must have a permit to visit the beach and you must follow all posted rules.
