CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The suspect in the abduction of 4 year-old Heidi Todd from her Johns Island home is facing multiple charges by Charleston Police.
Thomas Lawton Evans, 37, is charged with attempted murder, 2 counts of kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct 1st degree, armed robbery, burglary 1st degree and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Evans is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center, where he is scheduled to have a bond hearing today.
Evans is accused of attacking the girl’s mother on February 13th as she returned to her Johns Island home with three of her children. He then abducted Heidi and left the others behind.
Heidi was located the next day in Alabama. Evans was arrested several hours later driving a stolen car in Mississippi.
