Law enforcement monitors Berkeley High School following social media threats

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – Law enforcement spent Monday monitoring Berkeley High School after a threatening message was sent to a Berkeley High School student Sunday night.

The threat is being taken very seriously here at Berkeley High

“A tip that there was going to be an incident here at school today at the time she didn’t know where came from or who made it,” said Tim Knight, Safety and Security Director, BCSD.

The Moncks Corner Police Department has had a heavy police presence all day.

“First thing this morning, I know pretty much the entire patrol team was out here,” he said.

Trying to get to the bottom of this.

Monks Corner Police still actively working the investigation and trying to nail down exactly where the threats came from.

There is a reason they wanted people to see a large number of officers out there

“Just to show the students that you know everything out here is OK we’re just want to show the students as a precaution and the parents as well,” said Knight.

We don’t know a lot about the nature of the specific threat. It’s also not easy to nail down whoever is responsible. The ways to communicate are growing by the day.

Knight says parents can help them with this problem by monitoring your kids on social media and online.

If you see something that law enforcement needs to know about, call them immediately.
