Local law enforcement carry Special Olympics torch from coast to Statehouse

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Law enforcement officers from across the tri-county gathered Thursday on Sullivan’s Island for the final leg of the Special Olympics Torch Run.

Officers will be carrying the Flame of Hope from Sullivan’s to Columbia where they’ll join other officers from around the Midlands on Friday.

From there, they will convene at the Statehouse and carry the Flame of Hope 7.5 miles through downtown Columbia to Fort Jackson to light the cauldron to kick off Opening Ceremony!
