NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A lucky golfer in the Lowcountry found something extraordinary — a golf ball with the official seal and signature of former Vice President Joe Biden.

The ball was found at the Charleston Air Force Base golf course.

“My shipmate and I, we play golf probably twice a week, and one day we choose to play Wrenwoods right here on the Charleston Air Force Base to play a round of golf,” explained Richard Hippey.

But what he found that sunny afternoon was a little out of the ordinary.

“We got out on hole 11 and teed off. My ball did not go as far as I thought it would – it went in the water. After my shipmate hit his ball, I retrieved what I thought was my ball.”

Instead, it was a ball that had the signature and seal of former Vice President Joe Biden.

“It’s a memento that Rich can carry around the rest of his life and pass on to his kids,” said his friend. “I just thought it was terrific.”
