Mail to stop running in the Lowcountry due to Florence

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Due to Hurricane Florence, the Greater South Carolina District of the U.S. Postal Service will suspend mail deliveries and close Post Offices tonight in areas with ZIP codes that begin with 294 and 295. For the safety of our employees and customers, there will be no deliveries, collections, or retail operations until the threat of very severe weather subsides.

For a complete list of the closures and for the latest information on USPS service updates, check here.

"Hurricane Florence's potential impact makes these changes necessary," said District Manager Darryl Martin. "We are monitoring the storm closely and will resume all postal operations as soon as it's safe and reasonable to do so."

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to obtain information, including available, alternate Post Office retail locations, or check the Postal Service website: www.usps.com. The Post Office is always open at www.usps.com.  The Postal Service's smartphone app makes it even quicker to use the most popular functions on usps.com, anytime and anywhere.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
