Man apprehended after assaulting victim, locking in storage unit at Public Storage

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at Public Storage in Ladson, where deputies were informed that a male was assaulting a woman in public view on November 13th at approximately 6:10 p.m.

The affidavit stated that the witnesses intervened once they heard the victim yelling for help.

Through investigation it was learned that the man, Ted Cothran, was the boyfriend to the victim.  The victim was conducting business at the incident location when Cothran located her and began assaulting her, the affidavit stated.

Officials stated that during the assault, Cothran held a knife to the victims chest threatening to kill her. Cothran ended up locking the victim inside a storage unit for several minutes against her will, according to the report.

Ted Raymond Cothran is facing Kidnapping, and Domestic Violence in the 1st Degree charges.
