Man charged with Attempted Murder in Goose Creek following Labor Day shooting

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)- On Labor Day, deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were in the 330 block of Paul Street, located in Goose Creek.

Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting in which a male victim advised that the suspect shot him at point blank range, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that there was also a witness who advised that after hearing the shot she observed the victim stumble out of the room with the suspect following .

The witness stated that she asked the suspect why he shot the victim and he replied with “because I can” and left the scene with the weapon in his hand, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states that Kris Wyatt Smith is charged with Attempted Murder.
