Man flees traffic stop; fights deputies; surrenders to K9

Local News

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office was working in the area of Dorchester and Bacons Bridge Roads early Thursday morning where they conducted a traffic stop at 1:42AM. Upon contact with the driver and passenger, one of the deputies noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the car. The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. When they attempted to search Mr. Bourque he resisted and ran. Deputies chased Mr. Bourque and caught him. A fight ensued.

Bourque continued to resist and K-9 Rony was deployed. K-9 Rony apprehended Mr. Bourque who gave up and was taken into custody.

During the arrest methamphetamine was located.  Bourque was also carrying a semi-automatic handgun illegally.

Mr. Bourque lied about his name throughout the day until he was identified by one of the Crime Scene detectives Thursday evening using finger prints.

After identification, investigators learned Bourque was wanted by Louisianna Probation and Parole and by the Zachary County Louisianna Sheriff’s Office.

The charges from Zachary County stem from a similar incident October 4, 2018, where Bourque assaulted two deputies and fled the scene.

Ms. Gooding has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine (PWID) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bourque will be charged with PWID Meth, Assault on an Officer while Resisting Arrest, and there will be weapons charges.

Bourque and Gooding are both lodged at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
