CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department is searching for the person who they say assaulted and fondled two people.

On January 23, 2018, at approximately 9 p.m., the Charleston Police Department responded to an assault/fondling which occurred at the corner of Pitt St. and Vanderhorst St in downtown Charleston.

The victim told investigators that while walking west on Vanderhorst Street, she passed a wall next to Pitt Street and noticed a suspicious male walking toward her. He then started running at her – grabbing at her. She started fighting back and the suspect threw her onto the ground. He then ran south on Pitt St. and got into a small black older pick-up truck.

He then drove south on Pitt Street toward Calhoun Street.

The victim said the suspect is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, dark curly hair, dark “bushy beard”, wearing a plaid shirt with dark pants approximately 5’06″ to 5’08″ in height and medium build.

Approximately 15 minutes later, a second victim reported being assaulted in the same manner at the intersection of Pitt St. and Calhoun St.

The victim said that she was looking down and carrying her laptop when she looked up and saw a male standing near Pitt Street.

He started running toward her. She thought it was a person she knew until the male got closer.

She told investigators that he reached around her laptop, grabbing her breast.

The suspect then fled the area south on Pitt St.

The second victim described the same person as the suspect.
