Meter parking rates to double in Downtown Charleston

Local News

CHARLESTON, S.C (WCBD)– The City of Charleston will soon increase the meter parking rate from $1.00 to $2.00 to increase space turn over. Enforcement hours will also be extended to 10 p.m. instead of the current 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. schedule. The new meter rates will equal current parking garage rates.

The increase is set to be implemented at the same time as the the city’s new park and ride program.

The increase was voted on by Council in December of 2017. They have not yet announced an implementation date.
