Mixed-use Ferry Wharf Unveiled in Mount Pleasant

Local News

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – An unveiling in Mount Pleasant this week revealed plans for a new 18-acre mixed-use ferry wharf on the Charleston harbor.

The wharf will sit at the foot of the Ravenel Bridge and will include almost one million-square-feet of development.

It would also include office, retail, hospitality and residential projects.

Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie said the wharf will be a major boost to the town’s economy.

“The benefit is a lot of the businesses moving here are downtown. So people are adding to the traffic, going over the bridge,” he said. “Now you’ll be able to live and work in the great Town of Mount Pleasant.”

Mayor Haynie says the plans for this project have been in the works for twenty years

They expect the majority of the project, including hotel and retail space, to be completed within two years.
