Moped laws amended and effective on November 19th

Golf cart and moped owners may want to listen up.

If you own or plant to operate a moped you must have it registered with the South Carolina DMV by Monday, November 19th in order to drive it legally oon a state road.

To do so, you will have to pay 10 dollars and bring proof of ownership. You can also title the moped but its not mandatory.

As for golf carts a newly amended law will go into affect on Monday that aims to give teeth to existing regulations. Any golf car violation will now be treated as a misdemeanor if not deemed as a felony by another state law.

Penalties include fines under 100 dollars and imprisonment for no more than 30 days.
