Motorcyclist identified in fatal West Ashley crash

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)- A motorcyclist was killed on Saturday afternoon in a crash in West Ashley.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified 37-year-old Ryan Studds as the man who was killed. He died as a result of injuries sustained during the accident.

The collision happened at 1:15 PM near the intersection of Savannah Highway and Ashley Town Center Drive. As Studds was approaching the intersection, the driver of a Toyota SUV was making a left turn. Studds attempted to avoid the SUV, but collided with the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

Studds was pronounced dead at the scene and the roadway was closed for several hours. The collision is still under investigation.
