CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – A multi-vehicle collision along the North Charleston portion of the Cosgrove Bridge snarled early morning commute Monday.
Captain Roger Antonio with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office told News 2 a car crossed into an opposing lane, which is believed to have initially caused the crash.
Dispatch confirmed the call came in just before 7:30 a.m., and the high volume of affected cars forced officers to shut down all lanes of the bridge while they worked to clear the scene.
All lanes were reopened just before 10:30 a.m.
Injuries ranging from ‘moderate’ to ‘fairly serious’ were reported. CCSO says none of which were life threatening.
An exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Capt. Antonio said crews are working to determine exactly how many vehicles were involved.
