NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – On February 1st, members of the Gang Intervention Team were conducting proactive patrols within the 10-mile community, according to Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor.
While patrolling officers made contact with a suspect along Rivers Avenue near Gumwood Boulevard for a bicycle violation, according to the news release. The contact was also in reference to an earlier call regarding a male suspect in the area on a bicycle brandishing a firearm.
Officials stated that upon making contact with the male suspect, officers explained their reasoning for the contact. Due to the previous call involving a firearm, officers conducted a terry pat of Spencer’s person. Upon doing so officers located a black in color 9mm High Point firearm tucked in the male suspect’s waist.
Pryor stated that De’Andre Syquarius Spencer was charged with Unlawful Carry of a Firearm.
Members of the Gang Intervention Team were conducting proactive patrols within the Liberty Hill community. While patrolling officers viewed a silver in color SUV operating without any lights, officials stated. Officers caught up to the vehicle in the area of Durant Avenue near Holmes and initiated a traffic stop.
The news release stated that upon activating the overhead lights and audible siren the suspect vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiate, ending on Simms Street. The suspect vehicle struck a chain link fence and four occupants attempted to flee the vehicle.
Two suspects were apprehended immediately and the vehicle was reported stolen out of Beaufort County. Authorities also located along the front floor board was a semi-automatic 5.56 Extar assault style pistol.
Shontoni A. Brown and Lymik Pierce, both of Walterboro, were charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Unlawful Carry of a Firearm, and Simple Possession of Marijuana.
