Murder trial for former Lowcountry jeweler set to begin Nov. 26

CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – An official with the South Carolina Attorney General’s office on Friday confirmed the murder trial for Michael Colucci is expected to begin Monday, November 26.

Colucci, once a well-known Lowcountry business owner, stands accused of killing his wife, Sara Colucci, back in May of 2015.

Berkeley County deputies reportedly found the victim outside their Summerville business.

Colucci initially told investigators his wife hanged herself with a garden hose, but an affidavit revealed medical evidence and other evidence collected at the scene did not support his version of what happened.

Initial reports indicated there was a fight or struggle. He was arrested by SLED agents on May 4, 2016.

The trial was pushed back earlier this month because a necessary expert witness was unavailable.
